In the northland, we wait with eager anticipation for the arrival of spring. The longing for warm breezes and flowers blooming in an artist’s palette of color sometimes makes us forget that we must first traverse the landscape of slush and mud and unexpected drifts of wet, March snow.

Our spiritual lives are often fraught with the same sort of experiences as the turbulence and muck of springtime. We may find ourselves asking complex and uncomfortable questions: What is frozen, and what is thawing in my spiritual life? What do I have to offer to enrich the soil of the world? What connections in my life have decayed like fallen leaves, and what connections are germinating within me? How can my connection to the rest of the natural world help me navigate the personal and communal mess and turmoil that I must address to allow the seeds of eco-spiritual living to sprout and grow in my life?

If these questions strike a chord in you, we invite you to join us at Marywood May 16-18 for our spring weekend eco-spirituality retreat. Reflect and explore your springtime spiritual questions in the company of other seekers and Marywood staff as you enjoy the awakening of the Earth Community at Trout Lake.
