Walk-ins are welcome at any Marywood program. Calling ahead whenever possible, however, will help us plan for you and allow us to call you in the event of a change.

Enhancing Watercolor Painting with Negative Painting

Monday, May 2 – 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.

Presenter: Karen Kappell, FSPA

One of the most difficult concepts to grasp in watercolor painting is negative painting (painting the space around something to articulate the form). In traditional watercolor it is beneficial to learn how to see this way and in this workshop we will concentrate on developing the ability to do so. Bring 8×10 inch sheets of 140# paper, brushes, and watercolor paints. You could also bring an unfinished watercolor painting that is subdued in color that could be finished with negative painting.

Fee: $30.00; bring a lunch. Register by Tuesday, April 26.

The drum is a powerful instrument for centering and healing. Many native peoples refer to the drumbeat as the heartbeat of Mother Earth. Drumming can be a means of connecting to the natural world. It can be a bridge toward a deeper relationship with all that the Creator has made. Time is spent for personal and communal healing. Bring drums and shakers if you have them.
